He later graduated specializing in piano from the National Music Conservatory&nbsp;<em>L\u00f3pez-Buchardo<\/em>&nbsp;and he pursued orchestral conducting studies under the guidance of Mtro. Guillermo Scarabino at the&nbsp;<em>Universidad Cat\u00f3lica Argentina<\/em>. In parallel, he carried out musical composition studies with Juan Carlos Zorzi, piano improvement studies with Alicia Sciancal\u00e9pore, and conducted lessons with Javier Logioia and Luis Gorelik.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Between 1995 and 1997, he participated in the&nbsp;Second Edition of the International Bach Academy under the direction of Helmuth Rilling, as well as Conducting Masterclasses with Jean Fournet and Kurt Masur. In 1997, while acting as guest conductor of the Mercosur Youth Symphony, he was awarded a scholarship from the&nbsp;<em>Fundaci\u00f3n Teatro Col\u00f3n<\/em>&nbsp;through the Young Conductors Contest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 1998, he became the Music and Artistic Director of the Corrientes Symphony Orchestra, in Argentina. After being awarded a scholarship from the&nbsp;Antorchas Foundation, he conducted the&nbsp;Youth Orchestra of the Teatro Col\u00f3n during the Second Regional Program of Specialization and Performance on Orchestra Conduction, taught by Guillermo Scarabino.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2002 he was appointed assistant conductor at the&nbsp;Radio Nacional&nbsp;Youth Orchestra in Argentina. That same year, he completed Advanced Conducting courses with Stefano Cucci and Dominique Fanal, while conducting the Academic Chamber Orchestra of the Teatro Argentino de la Plata.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2003 Sebastian was awarded a scholarship by the Conductors Institute of South Carolina and pursued Conducting masterclasses with Dr. Donald Portnoy. In 2005, he attended the Orchestra Conducting Course taught by Charles Dutoit with the&nbsp;Youth Orchestra of the Teatro Colon. In 2006, he participated at the&nbsp;Eighth International Course in Orchestral Conducting atthe University of Concepci\u00f3n (Chile) Symphony Orchestra taught by Luis Gorelik.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2008, Sebastian began his doctoral studies (D. Mus.) at the University of Montreal under the direction Maestri Jean-Fran\u00e7ois Rivest and Paolo Bellomia having Mahler\u2019s work as the main subject of his research. At the time he was appointed assistant director of the&nbsp;<em>Orchestre XXI<\/em>, the University of Montreal Symphony Orchestra, and the&nbsp;<em>University of Montreal<\/em>&nbsp;<em>atelier de musique contemporaine<\/em>.&nbsp; In 2009, became assistant director of the&nbsp;<em>Orchestre de la Francophonie Canadienne<\/em>, where he actively contributed to the orchestra\u2019s first integral recording of Beethoven\u2019s symphonies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In August of 2011, Sebasti\u00e1n was appointed Musical and Artistic director of the Orchestra of the&nbsp;National Arts Center in Mexico City.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2017 he joined the University of Panama as a Professor on Conducting and Music, he became a member of the Doctoral Committee of the Institute of Fine Arts. That same year he became Artistic and Music Director of the Symphony Orchestra of the University of Panama as well as guest conductor of the National Symphony Orchestra of Panama.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After an international competition process, in 2023 he was appointed Artistic and Music Director of the Youth Symphony Orchestra of the State of Veracruz in Mexico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-cover alignfull\" style=\"min-height:164px;aspect-ratio:unset;\"><span aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-cover__background has-nv-dark-bg-background-color has-background-dim-100 has-background-dim\"><\/span><div class=\"wp-block-cover__inner-container is-layout-flow wp-block-cover-is-layout-flow\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns are-vertically-aligned-center is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-center is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:50%\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button is-style-primary\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/sebastiancohen.net\/?pagename=contact\">CONTACT ME<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-center is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:50%\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sebastian Cohen began his musical studies at an early age at the Tandil Conservatory in Argentina.
